According to a high-ranking police officer, if the 41 DRC soldiers currently on trial in Goma for allegedly committing mass rape, murder, and other war crimes last November are found guilty, the decision will be final and the military court will deny all requests for appeal, reports AFP.

A UN investigation stated that “135 cases of sexual violence, as well as other serious human rights violations including murders and massive looting (were) perpetrated by the soldiers” between the dates of November 20-30 in and around the city of Minova.
